Shops on their own site
You sell perfume on your own website (WooCommerce, another WordPress shop, or a site you or your developer built) and want each product page to show the notes with their pictures.
What you can do today
Your developer, or your AI coding assistant, can do this once we have set up your business record:
- Sign in, ask us to set up your business record, and create a key in the Builder Console; see Getting started.
- Store the Sniffopotamus fragrance id against each product, for example in a custom field. Find each id on sniffopotamus.com/explore. Check the strength: each strength is its own fragrance with its own id.
- On your server, when a product page is built, look up the id stored against
that product, fetch its card, keep a stored copy (served for 24 hours, kept
up to 7 days if we error, dropped at once if we answer
in_reviewornot_found), and place the notes and pictures in your product template. The PHP and Node examples in Getting started do exactly this; Test with your own app is a complete worked example.
Because your server builds the page, the card is part of the page itself: it shows without any script in the shopper's browser, and search engines see it.
Never put your key in your theme, a storefront script or a tag manager. The card must be fetched by your server.
On Shopify?
A Sniffopotamus app for Shopify is being planned separately. It is not available yet. If your Shopify shop has its own server-side code, the steps above still work.
What is coming
| Coming | What it means for you |
|---|---|
| Product-list matching | Upload your product list, get back the matched ids. Unclear lines stay unmatched for you to choose; nothing is guessed. |
| A website block | A ready-made block of HTML your server fetches in your chosen look and places in the page, with helper code for Next.js, PHP and Node. |
| A WordPress plugin | The website block, without code. |
| An email block | The same card for newsletters, 600 pixels wide. |
| The builder and looks | Choose how the card looks on your product pages once, without code. Your own colours are white label, a paid extra. |
