Billing, Stripe, and plans
Sniffopotamus uses billing to unlock higher limits and commercial access. The consumer app uses Stripe. Shopify merchants use Shopify billing later when the public app is ready.
Consumer plans
| Plan | Best for | Unlocks |
|---|---|---|
| Free | Casual users | Limited cabinet, wears, and basic help |
| Collector | Enthusiasts | Larger cabinet, wear history, analytics |
| Power | Daily users and couples | Partner tools, deeper analytics, MCP read access |
| Connoisseur | Creators and technical users | Creator surfaces, advanced sharing, higher MCP access |
Stripe flow
- Open account billing.
- Pick a monthly or annual plan.
- Checkout opens through Stripe.
- Sniffopotamus records the subscription status after Stripe confirms it.
- Manage payment methods and invoices from the billing portal.
Failed payments
If a payment fails:
- The app should notify you in account inbox and email.
- You can update your payment method from billing.
- Some partner or MCP features may pause if billing cannot recover.
Refunds
Refund requests go through support. Duplicate charges and billing mistakes are reviewed first. Appraisal PDFs or one-off reports need clearer report-specific refund rules before launch.
Commercial billing boundary
- Direct API, MCP, white-label, reports, and enterprise deals use Stripe or invoices.
- Public Shopify App Store plans should use Shopify billing when submitted.
- Billing, auth, RLS, and schema changes are approval-gated before production.
